As we have emphasised before, Google Plus is now too important to
ignore. It’s deeply linked to SEO, local business listings, and the second
largest network of people on the internet.
Enhanced Google+ profiles
and pages can have a significant impact on search rankings. Here
are a few tips to improve your ranking:
- Add
people to your" Circles" - Google's “Circles” concept is more in line with the
way we make friends in real life. We have many different kinds of friends, and
we interact with them and communicate with them in very different ways. Add people you know to your
"Circles", this can be done in your Google Plus page whilst signed
in, go to the left drop down and select:
Stay active and add influential people and pages to your circles. +1 and comment on other people’s and pages’ content on Google+ and often they will reciprocate. The more activity and engagement you receive on your content, the more +1s you receive, and the better Google treats you in search results!
- Employees - Encourage your employees or co-workers create their own Google+ profiles if they don’t already have a profile. They can help you in just a couple minutes a day, post links to your websites on their Google+ profiles, they can share the posts from your page and even +1 posts. It’s an easy, yet powerful way to quickly and legitimately gain social signals for a new page.
- +1's - Similar to Facebook’s “like”, Google has “+1” votes. The more +1’s your pages and posts the better.
- Link back - Within your profile introduction or posts you can create links within that content that link back to different pages of your site. Make sure you use keyword rich content but definitely no keyword "stuffing". Also, it may be obvious, but make sure your website address is in your profile!
- Other Social Media profiles - If you have any other social media profiles, from Facebook, to Instagram and Pinterest, it is highly beneficial to add them to the links section of your Google+ profile as well. If your G+ page is set up as a "business" as suppose to a "local page" then this can be added to your "business information".
- Post regularly - Regularly write "posts" to your page. If you currently have a Google Blogger, link your Blogger with your Google+ page and opt for automatic postings when you publish a post on your Blogger. Unlike Facebook, posts can be formatted, which gives you the opportunity to draw attention to important sections of your post you want to highlight to your followers.
- Reviews - Encourage reviews from your customers on Google+. Reviews increase the authority of your Google+ page and increase the likelihood of ranking well in the local search carousel. A Google+ Page needs around 4 reviews in order to get those fancy stars to show. Force 4 can produce a bespoke hand out sheet for your customers to follow in just a few easy steps, please ask us for more details.
- Add a +1 button/ Badge to your website - Let visitors quickly recommend your brand and your content.
- Raise your profile with Google+ Hangouts
- Start a live video broadcast with your followers! Example: Last March, Manchester United fans
from around the world were selected to take part in this Front Row experience.
Live videos of the fans would appear on the stadium’s advertising hording at
intervals throughout the game, allowing them to show their support live and say
that they had been in the ‘front row' as
their favourite team played. The
Hangout fans were clearly visible during the game. They appeared a total of seven
times in the 90 minutes and for only 10 seconds each time. Blink and you could
have missed it, but it was a world first and gave Google Plus Hangouts massive
exposure.
