Are Google going to penalise non-mobile-friendly sites?

What does this mean for your website?

Recent Google October 2014 Update:

Sites that appear in search results on mobile devices that are deemed "mobile-friendly" are now accompanied by a mobile icon (see attached image).

"96% of consumers say that they've encountered sites that were clearly not designed for mobile devices"  *Google research study - "What Users Want Most from Mobile Sites Today"

Having a mobile optimised site means Smartphone users are automatically redirected to a URL that looks something like m.MySite.co.uk.  The “m-dot” before the URL means this is a separate version of your site that’s been built to be more user friendly and simplified for a smart phone user.  It’s separate from your regular desktop website.

Optimised search results - because Google crawls multiple domains for each device, it’s ranking your inbound links and authority in multiple places.  Having a mobile website means you’re maintaining Search Engine Optimisation value across multiple domains, which spreads out the SEO links and authority you’re trying to optimise for.

FACT - Smart phone usage has grown considerably and figures are set to double, in just 6 years, from 21.6 million in 2011 to 43.4 million users in 2017*Statista.com

Let us create a mobile version of your current site (even if we don't manage your desktop site), and in turn, Google will recognise your mobile friendly site and you will avoid being penalised!
